New extension coordinator headed to Burke Burke County should soon have a new county coordinator for its Cooperative Extension Service. Although University of Georgia officials remain mum about their top candidate, they said the position should soon be filled, according to Southeast District Extension Director Lannie Lanier. After the candidate is selected by the extension service, which operates through UGA's College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, the Burke County Board of Commissioners must also approve the hire. County administrator Merv Waldrop, who has worked closely with Lanier to fill the position, said he expects to re- ceive paperwork for commissioners to sign in the very near future. Lanier called Burke County's extension service a "high profile program" and stated that it was crucial to choose the right person for the job. |
