Public hearing postponed to May 5
For retirement complex
By Elizabeth Billips lizbillips@yahoo.com

The City of Waynesboro has postponed a public hearing to discuss a zoning change necessary for the development of a retirement complex on the old Waynesboro Elementary School site.

The meeting, which was originally scheduled for Monday, April 7, will now be held Monday, May 5 at 6 p.m.

According to City Administrator Jerry Coalson, the hearing was rescheduled so that the developer, Gary Hammond, can present a detailed plan and more information to the residents living in the affected area prior to the hearing.

A meeting for that purpose will be held at city hall at 3 p.m. on Wednesday April 23.

Coalson said that while the city has agreed to provide the space for the meeting, it is not considered official government business.
