Three shot in Friday night drive-by

      Three cousins were shot Friday night when someone opened fire on their van with an assault rifle. According to Police Chief Karl E. Allen, the most seriously injured was 20-year-old Coleman Hankerson who was shot in the back.

GSP releases March stats
From Staff Reports
      Georgia State Patrol troopers from the Sylvania Post investigated eight accidents in Burke County last month. According to SFC S.D. Young, those accidents resulted in 15 injuries and one death. During the month of March, troopers from Post 21 also issued 39 traffic citations in Burke County.

Text message ends hostage situation

      A text message may have saved a young mother's life. Waynesboro police arrested the woman's estranged husband Friday morning after she sent a text to her father indicating her life was in danger. According to Major Mary Bennett, the young woman was held hostage for nearly eight hours.

      Ravenous burglar The burglar who ripped off a Waynesboro home must have had food on his mind. On Sunday, a Shadrack Street resident called police to report that her home had been burglarized. Among the missing items were a Fry Daddy, hot plate, electric grill, crock pot and toaster.

Armed robbers sentenced for holdups
