Body found in burned trailer
By Elizabeth Billips lizbillips@yahoo.com

The Burke County Coroner is trying to identify the body of a man who died in a fire along with his dogs.

A trailer on Pebble Road in Keysville, near Knight's Butchering Company, was completely destroyed by fire early Monday morning.

The man's remains were found on top of some metal springs believed to have been a recliner.

"The body was burned beyond recognition," Coroner Betty White said. "And six dogs perished along with him."

EMA Fire Chief Rusty Sanders said he does not suspect foul play.

White believes the body is that of the 59-year-old homeowner but is searching for dental records for confirmation. If she is unable to secure those records, she'll have to rely on DNA testing.
