Prison guard gets 50 years for sexual abuse

A former prison guard was handed a 50-year sentence last week for molesting his young granddaughter.

Billy Ray Black, a former Georgia State Prison guard from Lyons, was found guilty last January of aggravated child molestation and child molestation for incidents involving his granddaughter in Burke County that date back to December 2005.

Last Wednesday, Superior Court Judge Carl C. Brown sentenced Black to serve 25 years in prison and another 25 years on probation upon his release.

He must also abide by the requirements of the Georgia Sex Offender Registry and have no contact with the victim.
