Two injured in weekend stabbings Police are investigating two unrelated weekend stabbings that resulted in the injuries of a teenager and a Waynesboro man. Around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, 17-year-old Brandon Jordan was stabbed "through the face" following an argument on Davis Road. According to a report filed at the Waynesboro Police Department, the boy's 22-year-old sister slashed him with a filet knife when he attacked her. "It was a case of self defense," Investigator Claude Wade said, noting that the woman will not be charged. "She was trying to get away." The night before, 46-yearold Tyrone Patterson was stabbed with a butcher knife four times at his new girlfriend's Fuller Street house. The victim told police he had been dating 40-year-old Tonia Sherman for about two weeks when he withdrew $2,000 cash from his retirement savings to keep her from losing her house. Patterson went there Friday night, cash in pocket, to retrieve a wallet she'd allegedly stolen the night before. "He told her that if she'd give him his wallet back, she could have the money," Investigator Wade said. "But she grabbed his shirt by the pocket and took the money anyway." The couple began to fight, and, at some point, Sherman reportedly retrieved a knife and stabbed Patterson in the forehead, hand, shoulder and stomach. Although two of the wounds were deep, police say they were not life threatening. When officers arrived Sherman had fled with the money, but she was picked up Monday night on charges of aggravated assault, armed robbery and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime. |
