Burke Happenings Prom fashion show Burke County High School, in conjunction with David's Bridal and After Hours tuxedos, will hold its annual Pre-Prom Fashion Show 4 p.m. Thursday, March 27, in the J.D. Smith Auditorium. Juniors and seniors will model the latest attire for Prom 2008. Admission is free and the public is invited. Refreshments will be served. Relay For Life fundraiser A yard sale to benefit Relay For Life will be held 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday April 5, at First Baptist Church in Waynesboro. All proceeds will be donated to The American Cancer Society. Bake sale The women of St. Michael's Episcopal Church will hold a bake sale 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at St. Michael's Parish Hall, 515 Liberty St., Waynesboro. The sale will include treats made from scratch such as cakes, pies, cookies, Mrs. Shirley's famous sweet rolls, cheese balls, shrimp balls, appetizers and frozen casseroles ready to bake. Diabetic teaching A free diabetic course will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at Burke Medical Center. Those who attend are encouraged to bring a partner or any person who helps with food preparation. Call the dietary department at 706-554-4435 for more information. Space is limited. Art show Waynesboro Primary School will hold an art show 5-7:30 p.m. Monday, March 31, in the school gymnasium. Each student will have a piece of his or her artwork framed, matted and on display. The artwork may be purchased, and money raised from the event will benefit the school. The show is open to the public. Class of '88 The Burke County Comprehensive High School Class of 1988 will hold a reunion meeting 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at the Burke County Library. Contact Wendell Smith at 706- 840-1634 for more information. Scholarship The Burke County Women in Business Council is accepting applications for its 2008 scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a female high school senior who excels academically and is a leader in her school and community. Anyone interested should see her school counselor for an application or should contact Janice Morris at 706-437-8800. All applications must be turned in no later than Friday, April 11. Kids fashion show Plans are underway for the second annual Kids Fashion Show, presented by Bigg Boom Entertainment. Participants should be between the ages of 2-17 and could win a $300 shopping spree, as well as prizes in each age group. The registration deadline is April 11.
