Invisible house

A Florida woman is hot after paying 40-grand for a house that was never finished.

According to a report filed at the Burke County Sheriff's Office, the woman said she bought a lot on Bates Road several years ago and paid a builder up-front to build a house there.

She told officers that the contract lists the finish date as August 2005, but the house is still not complete.

Bad to worse

A State Court defendant begged the judge for an electronic anklet instead of jail … but he may get more time behind bars after taking frustrations out on a deputy.

William Montrell Durham, 21, appeared before Judge Jerry Daniel last week during a probation revocation hearing brought on by recent family violence charges.

Citing a wife in the hospital and sick children at home, he asked the judge to consider in-house arrest instead of jail.

The judge refused and ordered Durham to jail for the last 19 months and 29 days of a probation sentence from a previous family violence conviction.

According to a report filed at the sheriff's office, a deputy was escorting Durham from the courtroom to a holding cell when he tried to snatch away, then put his finger in the deputy's face and told him what he'd do to him when he got the handcuffs off.

That probably won't be anytime soon.

Durham will have to appear in court once again, this time on charges of simple assault and obstructing or hindering a law enforcement officer.

Tequila Steala

Waynesboro police are looking for a burglar with a hangover.

Since a break-in at Camino Real last Friday, officers have been reviewing security footage of the burglar stealing seven bottles of tequila from behind the bar.

He also tried to pry open a file cabinet but wasn't as lucky.

Although the restaurant owner didn't recognize the liquor thief, police say they have a possible street name for him.
