One killed in house fire The Burke County Coroner is trying to identify the body of a man who died in a fire, along with his six dogs. A trailer on Pebble Road, near Knight Meat Packing, was completely destroyed by fire early Monday morning.
The man's remains were found on top of some metal springs believed to have been a recliner.
Coroner Betty White suspects the body is that of the 59-year-old homeowner, but is awaiting dental records for a confirmation.
