Deputies say one man is dead following a violent wreck on Highway 56 South and Byne Sunshine Road.

 

According to officers, a tractor trailer ran the stopsign and collided with a Richmond County patrol car in which two prisoners were being transported.

 

One of the prisoners was pronounced dead, but his identity has not yet been released.

The condition of the deputy, other prisoner and trucker is not known.
