Mr. Lee Owens

Lee Owens, 82, of Sardis, Ga., entered into rest Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Burke Medical

Center.

17, at 4 p.m. at East Burke Baptist Church, with the Rev. Yonce Lively and the Rev. Ernest Proctor officiating.

Interment followed at Corinth Christian Church Cemetery.

A native of Dunbarton, S.C., he was born March 5, 1926. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #385, Sardis, GA, and the Order of Eastern Star, Lodge #382, Sardis, GA. Mr. Owens was the owner/operator of Lee's Bar-BQue in Hiltonia for many years. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Owens.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Essie Nevils Owens; two daughters, Carolyn Owens of Gracewood, and Johnnie Griffin of Sardis; a grandson, Christopher Griffin (Holly); and three great-grandsons, Dylan, Dalton and Dawson, all of Bloomingdale, Ga.

The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at DeLoach Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Waynesboro.

Pallbearers were Christopher Griffin, Stephen Schuman, Walter and Franklin Proctor, Henry Glisson, Phillip Windham and Talmadge Brown.

Friends may call at the residence (1313 Ellison Bridge Road, Sardis).

Flowers are being accepted, however, memorials may be made to East Burke Baptist Church Building Fund.
