From the Blotter Lively livestock Burke County residents reported property damage from the hooves and snouts of wayward livestock. Last Thursday, an Eagle Pass Road resident told officers her neighbor's pigs kept getting loose and coming into her yard. During the latest escape, they destroyed her garden and rooted up her flowers. The day prior, a Maple Lane man had trouble with his neighbor's goat. According to the deputy's report, the man recorded video footage of the goat climbing on top of his vehicle and walking around. The deputy noted that the man's car had indeed been scratched and was also littered with goat hair. Live-in burglar A Waynesboro woman reported strange doings in her apartment during a recent two-month absence. According to the police report, the woman returned home to find her heat had been set above 90 degrees. She then discovered that someone dirtied her dishes, loaded the dishwasher and used one of her cups as an ashtray for cigarettes and joints. She told police that her television was missing, along with two boxes of soap powder and two boxes of diapers. Police suspect the burglar gained entry via an unlocked window. Where's my paper? An Augusta Chronicle news courier had nowhere to put his papers. According to a report filed at the Waynesboro Police Department, someone stole the paper box that should have been sitting in front of the Jet Food Store on North Liberty Street Monday morning. A review of security showed a white minivan pulling up around the time of the theft, but officers were unable to get a tag number. Door-to-door A burglar went door-to-door at a South Liberty Street business complex. Early last Thursday morning, the unknown offender kicked in doors at Shivers Real Estate, Affordable Auto Insurance, Healthy Start and Mane Attraction. Two of the businesses were missing nearly $500 in cash combined, but the other two were otherwise untouched. Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 706- 554-8029. Somewhere in paradise Gunshots came within 50 feet of a deputy who went to Club Paradise to break up a fight. According to a report filed at the Burke County Sheriff's Office, a large crowd was gathered outside the Bates Road club around 2 a.m. Saturday with numerous people engaged in fights. As the officer came closer, someone fired four or five shots, which whizzed within 50 feet of him. Five more shots rang out as a small group broke away, then more guns were discharged on the far side of the parking lot. While officers cleared the club, six or seven shots were fired from a passing vehicle. Around that same time, a 25-year-old Waynesboro woman was being treated at Burke Medical Center for injuries she sustained at the club. She told police that two men and two women took turns punching her and kicking her in the face and head. One of the alleged offenders called Waynesboro police later that morning to report that someone was shooting at his house. |
