Tax sale grosses $46,000

      The City of Waynesboro made up for lost revenue last Tuesday. Fourteen properties went to the auction block for delinquent taxes, bringing in $46,015. According to the city's tax clerk Glenda Wimberly, the auction netted around $35,000 above what was owed in city and county taxes.

Coyote attacks Sardis trapper

School board race attracts system retiree

      One more candidate threw her hat into the Burke County Board of Education race this week. Lynn Crews, who recently retired from the school system, will run for the District 3 seat on the board. She'll be up against incumbent Barrett Wimberly and political newcomer Charles "T-Bo" Thames.

      In last week's The True Citizen, an article featuring local teacher Cindy Huddleston inaccurately referred to MCGHealth Medical Center as Medical College of Georgia. However, Medical College of Georgia is the college and MCGHealth Medical Center refers to the hospital and its related clinics.
