Burke Happenings NAACP The Burke County branch of the NAACP will meet 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Mt. Olive AME Church, 527 West Seventh St., Waynesboro. Following the meeting will be a Health Fair on Cardio Vascular Health. BCMS Discovery referrals Gifted referrals for Burke County Middle School students will be accepted Feb. 11-15. Teachers, counselors, administrators, parents or guardians and other individuals with knowledge of the student's abilities may refer that student for testing. Placement in the Discovery Program is determined using criteria established by the Georgia Department of Education. Students must meet criteria in any three of the following areas: mental ability, achievement, creativity or motivation. For additional information on the Discovery Program testing procedures at BCMS, contact Sherri Moore at 706-554-3532. Diabetic teaching rescheduled The free diabetic teaching course scheduled for today (Wednesday, Feb. 13) has been rescheduled. The course will now take place 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Burke Medical Center. Patients are encouraged to bring a partner or any person who helps with food preparation.
