BCHS to host region playoffs

      Teams from across east Georgia will head this way next week for the Region 3-AAA playoffs hosted by Burke County High School. The region playoffs will run Monday through Saturday (Feb. 11-16) with game times each night set for 4, 5:30, 7 and 8:30.

Lady Bears fall to St. Vincent's

      A slow start cost the Lady Bears a region loss Friday night in Savannah. The Burke County High School girls (12- 9, 5-6) lost to St. Vincent's Academy 70- 56 in their last region match-up of the regular season. The Lady Bears were outscored in the first quarter 20-8 and weren't able to recover.

      They were determined not to let it happen again, and from the moment the Lady Spartans (10- 9, 1-6) stepped onto the court in Murray Gym last Friday night, they proved they weren't going to let Frederica Academy leave Waynesboro the victor.

Spartans fall twice to the Knights

      The Frederica Academy Knights delivered two heartbreakers to the Spartans last week. On Tuesday, Jan. 29, Edmund Burke (11-8, 1-6) fell to its region foe 80-58 after what began as a battle on the court fizzled out in the second half.
