Singer plugs second album
By Elizabeth Billips Associate Editor

Waynesboro native Tedric "Tetris" Kelly is at it again.

The singer and songwriter released his second album, "That Girl," on Tuesday morning.

"As the album fell together it seemed as if every song revolved around a girl," the fulltime Georgia Southern University student explained. "The album tells a story and covers everything I do with 'that girl' - from meeting in the club ('The Club Song'), getting in a relationship, breaking up ('Save My Heart') and then searching for a new girl ('New Girl')."

Kelly has been working on the album since September 2006 and enlisted producer Darius "King-D" Smith to give it the edge he'd been searching for.

"He's nothing short of amazing and magical," Kelly said. "He took my music to the next level and beyond with his new age style of production."

Besides his "that girl" theme, Kelly's songs also confront the temptations today's teens are working through.

"The song 'Green Bag' is a personal one about struggles I've noticed at college," Kelly explained. "So many people succumb to the pressure of drugs, and this is one of those awareness songs where I'm bringing the issue to attention."

Kelly's first album, "Not a Game," took off in Statesboro and Atlanta last year after he was crowned homecoming king for his college.

"That album doesn't represent where I am now," he said. "I want to get out there and perform and promote new music."

Locally, "That Girl" is available at Waynesboro Emporium on Liberty Street.
