Schools prepare parents for online student tracking system Parents of Burke County school students will soon be able to track their children's progress on a daily basis, and school officials want to make sure they are ready to use the new tool. The schools will hold sessions to teach parents how to operate the program, called Parent Connect, and what they can expect when they log on to the site, according to information systems director JoAnne Horton. Parents may use the program to access up-to-date information, such as grades, attendance, homework assignments, discipline incidents and more, according to public relations director Amy Nunnally. The introductory sessions are scheduled for the next couple of weeks. They will be held in the lunchroom of each school. Those interested in attending a session should call the respective school in advance. Parent Connect is expected to be available online by Feb. 1, Horton said.
