Mr. Lindsey P. Jones, 99, dies in Waynesboro The homegoing service was held at the Portersville Missionary Baptist Church, 3452 Middleground Rd., Waynesboro, on Saturday, January 5 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Willie James Evans Jr. officiating. Interment was at the Portersville Church Cemetery immediately following the service. Born Sept. 20, 1908 in Burke County, Ga., Mr. Jones served as an Army Officer in WWII. He married his first wife, Doris Alexander, in 1941. After the war, they lived in Los Angeles, Calif., where he retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Jones was a widower when he courted and married Theodoshia Bessent in September 1985. They resided in Los Angeles until he and Theodoshia returned to live in Waynesboro, prior to her death in October 2004. Mr. Jones is survived by a host of loving relatives and devoted friends. Visitation was held at Phinazee and Son Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 4 from 6-7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to the Portersville Missionary Baptist Church, P.O.
