Robberies continue to plague Burke Guns were the choice of weapon in two armed robberies that occurred within one week of each other. On Sunday, Jan. 6, authorities responded to a convenience store robbery in Keysville. A black male entered the Keysville Community Store, pointing a black handgun at the store clerk and demanding that she "give it up and hurry up." According to a report filed at the Burke County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), after the clerk emptied the store register, the robber asked if there was any more money. He then got $50 from a second register and took off toward Martin Luther King Road. The suspect, who was wearing spotted faded blue jeans, a dark sweatshirt and a black and white bandana around his face, made off with $178. Anyone with information should contact investigators at 706-554-2133. One week earlier, another armed robbery took place - this time, it happened outside Squeaky Clean Laundry in Waynesboro. A Waynesboro police report said a local man was held up as he exited the laundromat on Sunday night, Dec. 30. According to the report, as the man approached his vehicle a black male in a hooded jacket and red bandana was leaning on it and asked if it was his. As the victim explained the car was his, another suspect also dressed in black, approached him from behind with a shotgun pointed at him. The two suspects ordered the victim to put everything on his car, including money, jewelry and his cell phone. They then made him lie on the ground while his belongings were collected. After throwing the victim's keys in the road, both suspects fled. Anyone with information should contact police at 706-554-8029. |
