Federal agents join hunt for fugitives

Federal agents have joined the hunt for two Burke County farmhands wanted for murder. Brothers Emerino and Lino Miguel, 35 and 23, have been on the run since last Sunday when the farmer they worked for found the body of Alajandra Canche, 32, while checking his crops. More...

A Waynesboro man was critically injured after his motorcycle collided with a deer. Ronald M. Beard, 57, was riding on Stoney Bluff Road around 7 p.m. Friday when a deer stepped into his path. According to Senior Trooper Brock Scott of the Georgia State Patrol, Beard hit the deer and was thrown across 183 feet of pavement. More...

A young mother who was arrested for leaving her baby in a parked car has been indicted by the Burke County Grand Jury. Tabatha Gail Skinner, 20, was indicted on a single felony count of cruelty to children in the second degree. More...

A developer selling lots on the Ogeechee River in Midville faces a stiff penalty for clearing land too close to the water. From the first "Yo Rapunzel" to the last "I'm just jazzed to be in the show," Edmund Burke Academy's One-Act Play cast dazzled as they portrayed an array of characters in The Brothers Grimm: Out of Order. Their performance was enough to wow Region 2-AA judges - so much that they walked away with the championship trophy and an invitation to compete at state. More...
A number of Waynesboro Primary School students were chosen from their classrooms based on teacher recommendations to participate in a Math Challenge Competition. The competition was similar to the MathFest that students will participate in this spring. Each competition stresses that its goal is to get students excited about math while emphasizing the speed and accuracy necessary for math success. Ribbons and treats were awarded for first-third place and honorable mention.
