Waynesboro's Laura Stone will have a second shot at Miss Georgia. She was just crowned Miss Southern Heartland at the Grand Theater in Cartersville - a win that earned her a spot in the 2009 Miss Georgia Scholarship Pageant in June. More ... Edmund Burke Academy's K5 students and their teachers, Phyllis Jenkins, Maggie McDonald, Jill Syms and Joy Osborn, recently visited the Windy Hill Ranch in Waynesboro. Betty Bailey Trenter talked to the children about her horses before she and her husband, Ray Trenter, gave them a tour of the ranch and let them ride the horses. More ... Blakeney Elementary School students Yauna Godbee, Alana Baum and Whitney McClellen are pictured with their Native American homes they each built for a school project. According to teacher Debbie Lively, the classes were completing a study on Native Americans. The students had to select a home they wanted to make, choosing between a pueblo, large house, teepee, longhouse or roundhouse. Students then had to tell which Native Americans lived in the home, describe the environment for that region and tell the main source of food. When asked what the students enjoyed most about the project, they all said it was working with their parents and getting their hands dirty. More ... |
