Staff - Elizabeth Billips The Rev. Kit Brinson got some sugar from Rolo during the annual Blessing of the Animals on Saturday. The Yorkie, who was accompanied by her yard-mate Duke and owners Buffy and Neely Mann, was one of 15 dogs to be blessed by St. Michaels Episcopal Church's interim priest. Each October, the church hosts the event at the city park in honor of St. Francis of Assisi and his love for all creatures. No arrests have been made in connection with an incident that caused mass panic at Burke County High School last week. Cyril Marchinton, 101, passed away Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008. He was born on Sept. 17, 1907 in London, England. His parents, Reginal and Elizabeth Gretton Marchinton moved the family to Nova Scotia in 1909. Cyril was a young schoolboy there at the time of the Halifax Explosion. More...
