Officer is attacked while making arrest

      A crowd gathered between two night clubs tried to pelt a Sardis police officer with bottles and bricks as he arrested a man for a string of crimes, including armed robbery. According to Police Chief John Finley, an anonymous caller alerted officers around 11:30 p.m.

Teen granted bond in murder case

      A teenager accused of killing his mother's boyfriend was granted bond Monday. A $100,000 bond was set for Robert Terrell Smith, 19, by Superior Court Judge Duncan D. Wheale. Smith, who was arrested in Sept. 2007, had been denied bond by other judges at two previous bond hearings.

      Rear view A Waynesboro teen was cited by police after refusing to cover his bottom. According to police reports, Shawnquil Conner, 18, was charged with indecency when an officer saw him standing in front of Briarwood Apartments with his "sagging" pants pulled down to his thighs and his blue underwear in plain view of passing motorists.
