Local DUI/Drug court receives additional funding
      Burke County's DUI/Drug Court is getting more funding, and this time it's nearly $25,000. The Judicial Council of Georgia Standing Committee on Drug Courts recently awarded the local court program a grant in the amount of $24,600 for operations through June 30, 2009.

      Filthy find A Burke County landlord called deputies after a renter moved out of his trailer, but left behind a lot of nastiness. According to the report, the trailer was left in "complete filth." Besides the holes in the walls and spoiled food in the refrigerator, the trailer was jumping with fleas and infested with thousands of cockroaches.

      The following arrests and citations were reported by the Waynesboro Police Department for the past week: Wednesday, Aug. 13 • A 16-year-old Waynesboro boy was arrested for no driver's license. • Kendrick Waltower, 18, of 1101 Claxton Lively Road, Waynesboro, was cited for allowing an unlicensed minor to drive.

Burke County Sheriff
      The following arrests and citations were reported by the Burke County Sheriff's Office for the past week: Monday, Aug. 11 • Tiffany Latoria Griffin, 18, of 515 Canterbury Circle, Waynesboro, was arrested for criminal damage to property in the second degree. A $2,450 property bond was posted.
