Burke County High School was recognized last week as one of the top 25 schools in the state for improved ACT scores. NRC issues final report on environmental impact of new reactors and recommends approval
One more milestone has been reached in the expected expansion of Vogtle Electric Generating Plant. U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff issued a final environmental impact statement recommending that an Early Site Permit (ESP) be issued for Plant Vogtle. Burke County and the state of Georgia followed the rest of the nation with rising unemployment numbers for the month of July. Nationwide, the percentage of unemployed workers hit a four-year high of 5.7 percent while Georgia's rate hit 6.2 percent. Burke County had an official rate of 8.7 percent unemployed. More...

It was bad news for the Bears in Louisville Friday night. Burke County High School took on their rivals in neighboring Jefferson County for a preseason scrimmage and fell 30-14 to the Warriors.
