Henry, Jenkins to unite in marriage
      Mr. and Mrs. James Luther Henry of Millen announce the engagement of their daughter, Melanie Lara Henry, to Matthew Dufft Jenkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Julian Stanley Jenkins of Waynesboro. The wedding is planned for 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at Elam Baptist Church.

Local Rotary Club continues to give
      The Waynesboro Rotary Club just keeps getting better, according to this past year's president, Billy Joe Johnson. Since Johnson was appointed president, last July, the club has taken part in numerous service projects to raise money for educational scholarships.

Cochran receives certification as Clerk of Superior Court
     Sherri J. Cochran was recently recognized as a Certified Clerk of Superior Court in Georgia after completing the requirements of the University of Georgia's Carl Vinson Institute of Government. The Carl Vinson Institute of Government, in conjunction with the Institute of Continuing Education and the Superior Court Clerks' Training Council, offers the certificate program for the elected Superior Court Clerks in Georgia. To become certified, Cochran had to complete more than 70 hours of coursework and write a project thesis. Burke County native honored with Purple Heart Award
      Staff Sgt. Richard Faulk received an honor like none other, when he was notified that he was a Purple Heart Award recipient. The 38-year-old Faulk was awarded the Purple Heart in January, after hitting a road-side bomb in Iraq in August of 2007. He suffered nerve damage to the neck, back and hip, as well as a traumatic brain injury.
