Summer orientation

Summer orientation for Burke County High School rising freshmen and their parents will be held Friday, July 25, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the high school.

Men's health

symposium

A "Men Talking to Men" health symposium will be held Saturday, July 26, at Beulah Grove Baptist Church at 9 a.m.

Local doctors will discuss men's health at the free event sponsored by the Lamar Medical Center, Richmond County Health Department and Beulah Grove Health Ministry.

A hot lunch will be provided, and optional health screenings will be available.

WIB conference Burke County Women in Business Council will hold its 15th annual conference 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25.

Lib Fowler will be guest speaker, and attendees are invited to check out the latest fashion and dine on some of the best food in town.

Tickets will be available soon.

Car, truck and bike

show

A car, truck and bike show festival will be held 1 p.m.-until Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Waynesboro Boxing Club recreation field on Wallace Street, across from the Housing Authority.

Booths for vendors are available, and talent and dancing contests will be held.

Memorial service

A Confederate memorial service for Owen Pinckney Smith, Co. K 42nd Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infantry, will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at Smith Cemetery on Hiltonia- Perkins Road.

The service is sponsored by Margaret Jones #27 UDC in cooperation with Blackcreek Volunteers #939 SCV.

Diabetic teaching

A free diabetic teaching class will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at Burke Medical Center.

Those participating are encouraged to bring a partner or any person who helps with food preparation.

Clothes drive

A free clothes and school supplies drive will be held Saturday, July 19, beginning at 7 a.m. at the Southern Bank Pavilion, 855 North Liberty St., Waynesboro.

The event is sponsored by The Christian Extravaganza.

Cale Odom fundraiser

Friends of Cale Odom, who was severely injured in a recent boating accident, will hold a fundraiser to help with the costs of his medical bills.

Grilled chicken dinners and all the fixings can be purchased for $10 each.
