Jaycees plan bigger bang for this year

This Fourth of July marks the largest fireworks extravaganza for the Waynesboro Jaycees. The annual event will take place this Friday at the Burke County Recreation Department. Jaycee Scott DuMars said the organization spent $1,000 more this year than it did on last year's show, so attendees are in for a spectacular treat. More...

After serious debate and a summer in limbo, Blakeney Elementary School finally has a new principal. Angela Williams was approved by the Burke County Board of Education Monday after a recommendation from Superintendent Linda Bailey. Assistant superintendent Wilbert Roberts was appointed as principal last month but opted out of taking the job two weeks ago. More...
