Accused officer resigns from post

A State Court law enforcement officer resigned from his duties Monday, just days after deputies backtracked a mix of alcohol, drugs and minors to a "party shed" behind his Burke County home. Three indicted in farm copper thefts

Three Burke County men have been indicted in copper thefts involving equipment owned by several Burke County farmers. Bobby Tremaine Douse, Ernest Lamont Abrams Jr. and Johnny Lee Wilson were indicted by a Superior Court grand jury on five counts of theft by taking. More...
