Fowler, Boyce to unite in marriage
      Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Thomas Fowler Sr. are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Catherine, to Brian Joshua Boyce, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Edward Boyce of Atlanta. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Patrick Mathias Fowler Sr. and the late Mr. Fowler of Waynesboro and Mr. W. H. Knox Jr. and the late Mrs. Knox of Brunswick.

CIS standouts
     Students and volunteers were honored at the annual banquet recently held by Communities in Schools of Burke County (CIS). Dozens of students participate in CIS programs through mentoring, teen leadership, Wise Guys and after-school programs. Instructors selected the students above as students of the year or most improved.       The Burke County Board of Education recently honored 202.5 plus years of experience when retiring educators and Dickie Jenkins, Assistant Transportation Director, were recognized. Jenkins is retiring with 26 years experience.

Sounds of Music
     Academy Avenue was filled with music recently when several of Jean Stanford's students presented piano and vocal solos. Parents and students enjoyed a variety of musical offerings.
