      Mad cow An angry bull didn't take well to the deputy who tried to steer him off the highway last Saturday. According to a report filed at the Burke County Sheriff's Office, the large Angus was seen wandering up and down Griffin Road and taking an occasional turn down the middle of Seven Oaks Road.

Womanless pageant slated for April 18

      Some of Waynesboro's most distinguished gentlemen will be pulling up their pantyhose and squeezing into their prettiest dresses to earn some cash for cancer research. Antioch Rock Creek Baptist Church will hold its annual Womanless Beauty Pageant (WBP) this Friday, April 18, at 7 p.m. at Waynesboro Primary School. Admission is $5 and concessions will be available.

Tables turn for shooting victims

      Two men who were shot at while scavenging metal are now being charged with felonies. The case in hand dates back to late March when Burke County deputies received a call from a 13- year-old who said two men were cutting metal from an abandoned skid loader behind his grandfather's property on Highway 23.
