Curable?
      Burke County has been fortunate that for the past 15 years, no local funds have been needed to fund indigent care at the Burke County Hospital, now known as Burke Medical Center. A combination of good management and indigent care trust fund money has allowed the hospital to operate profitably during that time.

Looking Back
      10 years ago: March 4, 1998 Jack Willis, the first principal of Burke County High School, announced that he would retire at the end of the school year. He had served in the position since 1988. Waynesboro City Council voted to ban pool halls from the city's historic district.

      Can this be true? A movement is afoot in the Capitol to change the title of House Speaker Glenn Richardson's sweeping tax reform measure. Overnight, Romeo's GREAT Tax Plan would become known as the DEAD Tax Plan. I have not been able to confirm this, but it certainly makes sense.
