DuMars, Marvin unite in marriage

Mr. and Mrs. James Frederick Marvin Mr. and Mrs. James Frederick Marvin Miss Olivia Jean DuMars became the bride of James Frederick Marvin at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro.

The Rev. Marshall Singletary officiated at the ceremony, which was directed by Margaret Singletary.

The bride is the daughter of Scott and Jill DuMars of Waynesboro.

The groom is the son of Charles H. Marvin III.

The church was decorated with arrangements of autumncolored roses, calla lilies, orchids, ferns and candelabras.

Special musical selections were performed by Mimi Cohen, and "The Lord's Prayer" was sung by Ryan Able.

The groom chose his father to serve as his best man.

Groomsmen and ushers were Chip Marvin and Bruce Marvin, brothers of the groom; Joshua DuMars, brother of the bride; and Derrick Turner, Met Rogers, Paul Williams and Alan Cushman, all friends of the groom.

Patrick Marvin, nephew of the groom, served as ring bearer.

Angie Chavis, friend of the bride, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Heather Daniel, cousin of the bride; Amanda DuMars, sister-in-law of the bride; Cheryl Marvin, sister-in-law of the groom; and Keri Ogletree, Paula Griffin and Tiffany Williams, all friends of the bride.

Kanon Daniel, niece of the bride, served as a junior bridesmaid, and Nancy Daniel, niece of the bride, and Carolyn Marvin, niece of the groom, were flower girls.

Bridal attendants wore floorlength, strapless gowns in mocha, and each carried a bouquet of autumn-colored roses and calla lilies.

The bride, escorted by her father, wore a traditional ivory satin gown with a scoop neckline. The bodice and chapel train were accented with Italian crystals.

She carried ivory roses and calla lilies in a cascading bouquet.

The couple traveled to the wedding reception in a horsedrawn carriage.

Reception

The bride's parents were hosts for a reception at their home in Barrett Plantation West.

A white tent, which sheltered guests seating, and a carport and patio decorated with various flowers and plants, burning torches and lights served as a dance floor. The band "Shameless Dave" provided music as entertainment for guests.

Ashlyn Daniel, the bride's cousin, kept the guest book.

After a honeymoon trip to Aruba, the couple make their home in North Augusta, S.C.
