Letters to the Editor

Soldier says thanks

Editor:

All of us here at Battalion Headquarters really do appreciate all that your newspaper and your local community have done to support the troops from your area.

You just don't realize what a huge difference it makes for the soldiers, especially those in Iraq, to know people in Burke County are thinking about them while they are serving their country.

May God bless you all.

Sgt. First Class David Cook

Georgia Army National Guard

Headquarters Battery 1st Battalion, 214th Field Artillery Assistant Operations

NCO

Responds to Chronicle writer

Editor:

The citizens of Burke and Richmond counties must understand there are certain anti-nuclear technology groups that are determined to undermine the operations and growth of Plant Vogtle and SRS. Both operations are environmentally safe. They have thousands of employees in our area. Vogtle operations use about 1 percent of the water flow of the Savannah River. The construction and operation of reactors, units three and four will not pose a problem to our water use capacity.

A. K. Hasan

Augusta (Hasan is president of CSRA Citizens for Nuclear Energy. His

letter is in response to an article printed in The Augusta

Chronicle Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007.)
