Mrs. Sara G. Howell

Sara G. Howell, 73, of Midville entered into rest Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at Trinity Hospital.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. at the Midville Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott McKinney officiating.

Interment followed at Midville City Cemetery.

She was born on March 27, 1934 in Jenkins County to the late M. L. Gay Sr. and Georgia Cowart Gay.

She retired as Senior Secretary at Gracewood State School and Hospital. She was a faithful member of the Midville Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Vera Warren Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, James A. Howell, who passed away on Jan. 19, 2007; a grandson, Jeffery Michael Tankersley; and two brothers, Kenneth Gay and M. L. Gay, Jr.

She is survived by a son, Bill Tankersley (Beverly) of Sylvania; daughters, Linda Tankersley Yearty (Morgan) of Sylvania and Amanda Lee of Statesboro; a sister, Johnnie Jenkins of Swainsboro; four grandsons, Jordan Lee, Dustin Lee, Brandon Campbell and John Morgan Yearty III; 10 nieces and nephews; 13 greatnieces and nephews; and one great-great niece.

The family received friends Thursday, Dec. 20, from 6 until 8 p.m. at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

Pallbearers were Bobby Alexander, Jason Howell, Ethan Brown, Donnie Tankersley, Rodney Riley and Charlie Tankersley.

Honorary pallbearers were Morris Green, Jessie Burke, Riley Jones, Charles Sigmon, Billy Drake, Ron Josey, George Holloway, Mutt Kennedy, Jerry Boggus and Cleve Mobley.
