Copper theft costly for Baptist church

Copper thieves did some serious damage, again … this time at a local church.

Members of New Birth Mis- sionary Baptist Church recently discovered that someone tampered with eight of their air conditioning units between Dec. 12- 15.

According to the police report, thieves removed the condenser coils, completely destroying all of the units in the process.

The damage was estimated at more than $40,000.

All of the units were located at the rear of the building that once housed Waynesboro Elementary School.
