Where are you Santa? On Christmas day I woke up at 4 a.m., trying to hurry myself down the stairs. I was in such a hurry to get to those presents! On my way down the stairs I stopped by my brother's room and woke him up. When we got to the Christmas tree, my mouth dropped open because there was nothing under the Christmas tree! My brother didn't really care because he was too sleepy. I looked under the tree, in the tree and in the stockings … still, there were no presents. I ran to my mom and said, "Momma, there are no presents under the tree!" Momma said, "Well perhaps Santa forgot to come." I told her to quit being funny because I was serious. My dad overheard my mom and I talking, so he rolled out of bed and headed toward us. Daddy said, "You know presents aren't the true meaning of Christmas." And before I could say something, he said, "Jesus' birth is the true meaning of Christmas." He said that Santa would probably come around 5 or 6 a.m. I ran into my room, grabbed my pillow, did a huff, then went back to bed. I woke up at 6 a.m. and tiptoed down the stairs so I would not scare Santa. Still, no presents. I didn't want to tell my parents and disturb their sleep again, so I went back to bed, but this time I had a dream that sugarplums were dancing in my head. I woke up at 9 a.m., grabbed my brother and went downstairs. This time I knew Santa would have left presents under the tree, and he did! I found a note on the coffee table that said, To Erica From Santa 917 Candycane Ave. When I opened the note, it said, Dear Erica, I'm sorry I made you think I was not coming. The reason it took so long is that when I was flying over Augusta, the wind was so strong it blew one of your presents out. I had to fly all the way back to the North Pole and get a new one made. For my apologies, I brought you a present outside. Love, Santa Claus When I looked outside, my mouth dropped open. He gave me a four-wheeler. I sent him a note back that said thank you and that he didn't have to go through all that trouble. After that, I ran into my room, grabbed my Bible and sat by the fire and red the true meaning of Christmas. |
