The Real Christmas Gift
By Zachary Daniel Martin Mrs. Mitchell's 2nd Grade Class, Waynesboro Primary School

There was nothing under the Christmas tree.

My mom works very hard, but since my dad chose not to be a part of our family anymore, things have not been easy.

With a week left before Christmas, I wondered if there would be any presents to open on Christmas Eve.

As I sat staring at the tree, the lights seemed to dance and each ornament brought Christmas memories.

I started to feel the joy of Christmas and thought that the tree being shaped like a triangle represents the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

My eyes came to rest on a wooden cross ornament. It reminded me that we all have been given the greatest gift possible. That gift is Jesus Christ who God gave freely for our salvation.

The birth of Jesus, the Gift, is the real reason we celebrate Christmas.

I realized I didn't need any other presents.
