From the Blotter

Ho, ho, hmm

Someone has un-decked the halls of a Tucker Avenue resident.

The homeowner told police that she went outside last Monday morning to find that all of her decorations had been stolen during the night.

Among the missing are an inflatable Santa, snowman, merry go-round and reindeer, complete with a sled. The decoration thief also made off with an inflatable chimney with a pop-up Santa inside.

Ten on one

Deputies are trying to find out exactly what happened at Big Daddy's Night Club early Saturday.

According to a report filed at the Burke County Sheriff's Office, deputies were helping Sardis police disperse the crowd around 1:30 a.m. when they learned an injured man was being treated at the nearby EMA station.

Witnesses said he'd been attacked by approximately 10 men and women during an argument at the club.

The reporting officer noted that the 28-yearold victim had been badly beaten on the head and chest areas, and had several lacerations to the scalp.

That same morning, three Sardis women all reported that they, too, had been attacked at the club. Two of the women blamed each other for the "unprovoked" attack, while a third woman, who was being treated at the hospital, said she'd been beaten up by a group of "unknown people."

Evil eye

A Keysville man called police after realizing his eye drops had been compromised.

According to the police report, the victim used the drops after having left them at work overnight.

He was taken to Burke Medical Center where doctors advised officers that someone had apparently put superglue in the medication.

The slip

A Wal-Mart employee was arrested for giving a friend a deep Christmas discount.

According to a report filed at the Waynesboro Police Department, cashier Urika West, 18, attempted to "slide" more than $840 worth of unpaid for toys to 29-year-old Beverly Mickens.

Mickens fled from the store empty-handed when an employee confronted her at the garden center exit.

West reportedly told officers that she and Mickens planned the theft and intended on divvying up the merchandise later. Both women are charged with one felony count of theft by taking.
