Lights of Hebron
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Hebron International Baptist Church. The congregation has created a winter wonderland with the help of more than 10,000 strings of lights and some old fashioned holiday fun. Every weekend through Christmas, 6-9 p.m., the public is invited to walk the grounds, listen to live music, sit around the campfire and roast marshmallows and hop on the hay-wagon for a tour - and all for free. Golf cart tours are also available on a needs-basis. "It just keeps getting prettier and prettier," the Rev. Earl Saxon said of the two-year work in progress. Last year, the lights attracted more than 500 families, including one from Alaska that spotted them during a crosscountry trip. On Fridays and Saturdays, concessions are sold during the event with proceeds benefiting the church's mission program. On Sundays, the five-acre light show will reopen at 6 p.m., beginning with an informal worship service to which the public is invited; however, concessions will not be sold. The church is located on Highway 25, a mile north of Wal-Mart. For more information, call the Rev. Saxon at 706-836-0057.
