Field Trials underway
Alan York's B.W. "Zeke" waits patiently for the derby competition to wrap up Sunday afternoon at the Georgia Field Trial Association's Amateur Celebration. York, of Louisville, began coming to the annual event at Di-Lane Plantation two years ago and said he enjoys the friendly competition among the dog owners. He became interested in field trials three years ago mainly because of his love for horses, which are vital to the sport. York and Zeke faired well, taking second place in the Georgia Amateur Derby competition. The Georgia Amateur Celebration began Friday and ran until dark on Sunday. According to GFTA secretary/treasurer Nell Mobley, 43 dogs were entered in the trials last weekend.
