Do Not Call List is free for Georgians The Georgia Public Service Commission reminds consumers there is no charge to be on the Georgia Do Not Call List. But, the Commission continues to receive checks from consumers wishing to have their telephone number(s) added to the list. While it may be unusual for a governmental agency to say, commission officials insist, "We don't want your money." When a consumer registers with the Federal Do Not Call Registry, his/her telephone number(s) is automatically included on the Georgia Do Not Call List, free of charge. The Commission returns, on average, about 20 or so checks each month to consumers To enroll with the Federal Do Not Call Registry, a consumer must call 1-888-382-1222 from the telephone number he/she wishes to register. To enroll online go to www.donotcall.- gov. The Federal Do Not Call Registry was established in June 2003 in effort to prevent unwanted telephone solicitations. To report violations, contact the Federal Communications Commission at 1-888-225-5322. |
