Discovery referrals

The two time periods for gifted referrals will be Nov. 5- 9, and March 3-7, at Waynesboro Primary School. Referrals to Discovery are automatic for students who score in the 90th percentile or above on a norm referenced test.

Placement is determined using criteria established by the Georgia Department of Education. Students must meet criteria in any three of the following four areas: mental ability, achievement, creativity or motivation.

Trail ride for St. Jude

A trail ride to benefit the St. Jude Children's Hospital will be held Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at White Oak Ranch on Mark Walden Road.

Costume contest

A Halloween costume contest will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at the Burke County Library for children through the age of 6.

Prizes will be awarded in three categories, the prettiest, the scariest and best all-around.

All participants will receive a bag of candy.
