Man injured from deer stand fall
By Elizabeth Billips Associate Editor

A Burke County man was injured when he fell from his deer stand last weekend.

According to DNR rangers, 77-year-old Robert Jenkins Sr. was repositioning a ladder stand near his Winter Road home when it twisted away from the tree.

Jenkins fell about 10 feet to the ground, fracturing three of his vertebrae.

EMA technicians rushed him to the Medical College of Georgia where he was still undergoing treatment as of Tuesday afternoon.

According to DNR officials, that was the only accident reported in Burke County during the opening weekend of firearms deer season.
