Bears to take on only other undefeated team in sub-region

      The stakes will be high on the gridiron in Guyton this Friday night. Burke County High School (5-2, 2-0) will travel there to face South Effingham High School (6-1, 2-0). The Bears and the Mustangs are the only two teams in sub-Region 3A-AAA that remain undefeated in league play.

      The Spartans (0-7, 0-2) suffered their second straight 42-0 shutout last Friday at the hands of Windsor Academy. According to EBA head football coach Jerry Davis, size played the major role in Windsor's dominance over the younger, smaller Spartan team.

      Lillie Boland and Noelle and Lauren Link competed in the Peach Open Basic Skills Figure Skating Competition held recently in Atlanta at the Duluth Ice Forum. Lauren, pictured at left, a K4 student at Edmund Burke Academy, placed first in Basic 1 Elements.
