School board opts to not raise taxes

      The school tax rate won't be any higher this year if all goes as planned by the Burke County Board of Education. The board tentatively approved a motion Monday to leave the millage rate for school property taxes at 12.75, the same as it's been for the past eight years.

Fight lands teens in jail
