Four to Go
Spartans face remainder of season with new coach
By Diana Royal Staff Writer

JERRY DAVIS
The Spartans will attempt to tackle their four remaining games of the season under the direction of a new head coach.

Jerry Davis took the reins this week when former head coach Jeremy Blackstock resigned from the position. Davis had previously been serving the Spartans as offensive coo rdinator, offensive and defensive line coach and strength coach.

This week, the Spartans (0-6, 0-1) come off a 42-0 loss to Bulloch Academy only to face another tough region opponent in Windsor Academy in Macon.

"They are a big, powerful team," Davis said of the Knights, adding that EBA will have to work on not being driven off the ball. "We've got to do a better job picking up blitzes and getting out there and hitting."

The Knights boast a 6-1 record this season, having lost their only game to defending state champs Trinity Christian School 27-8.

Last year the Spartans pulled a 30-7 win over the Knights, and Davis says if they can focus, they might be able to do it again. "We struggled on offense last week," he said. "We've got to work on that and on just hitting hard."

Hamp Wade tacks on some Spartan yardage.
Bulloch came out ready to win last Friday night, grabbing three touchdowns in the first quarter. They led 35-0 at halftime and picked up one more touchdown in the fourth to shut the Spartans out, 42-0. EBA managed a total of 29 yards rushing on 22 carries. They were 2 for 7 in the air, gaining just 6 yards. Jeremy Hayes led the effort with 24 yards and also picked up 106 yards on kick returns. He also had 8 tackles on the night. Jordan Ansley was responsible for 2 fumble recoveries.
