Spooky stories wanted The True Citizen staff wants to get spooked. Between now and Oct. 26, local fourth- and fifth-graders are invited to send us their best scary stories. The first, second and third place winners will have their stories printed in the Halloween edition of the paper. Entries will be judged on readability, creativity and the ability to scare the heebie-jeebies out of us. The contest is open to all fourth- and fifth-graders enrolled in Burke County public, private or home schools. Entries must be received at The True Citizen office, 601 East Sixth St., Waynesboro, no later than 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26. They may also be emailed to lizbillips@yahoo.com. Stories should be typed or clearly printed, no more than 1,000 words, and should include the author's full name, grade, school, address and telephone number. |
