BCHS beats Josey, falls to Cross Creek on court
By Anne Marie Kyzer Staff Writer

Burke County's Hailey Larmour serves up an ace for the Lady Bears in their victory over Josey.
The Burke County High School volleyball team took the good with the bad last Thursday afternoon.

After a convincing victory over Josey High School, the Lady Bears fell to Cross Creek High School in a game that coaches said included several questionable calls.

Burke County took down Josey in the first and third games of the match up, 25-11 and 25- 13, respectively.

Hailey Larmour pounded 11 unreturned serves across the net for the Lady Bears, while Jalessa Sharpe tacked on two more aces and Yasma Lynch served one up, as well. Larmour also scored one on a kill for Burke County.

But when the Lady Bears faced Cross Creek, they lost a close first game 24-26. They rallied in the second to take down their opponents 25-22, but then several discouraging calls came home to roost in the third game when the Lady Bears lost 14-25. Larmour helped the team with five aces, and Sharpe and Lynch each sent one ace over. Larmour also had five kills. Lynch tallied three kills and two blocks.

Burke County will face Josey and Laney high schools Thursday at home. The games will begin at 5 p.m. in the Burke County Middle School gym.
