Work-Training Supervisor of the Year

Melinda Kelly, owner and director of Kozy Kids Child Care Center, has been named as Burke County High School Cooperative Business Education (CBE) Work-Training Supervisor of the Year. Kelly was recognized for her outstanding contributions to the work-training program. Work-based learning programs are designed to prepare students to be better citizens, leaders and employees. This is accomplished by bridging the gap between the instructional setting and the real world at a local training site. By alternating classroom learning with work experience, students are able to make informed career decisions, interact with professionals in their field and prepare for entry into the job market. The purpose of the CBE program is to afford all students the opportunity to experience part-time employment in local business, industry and government under the supervision and guidance of the CBE coordinator.
